Rear main seal replacement...what's involved?

What all is involved with changing the rear main seal? The Helm's shows all illustrations with the engine torn apart. Can the right side cover be removed without pulling the tranny or head? I haven't been able to get under my car and stick my head into that part of the engine yet because my jack is busted.

Unfortunately, the trans, clutch and flywheel must all be removed to access the right side crank seal. You will also need to remove the oil pan (although you may be able to remove the studs from the trans end of the pan and then slide the side plate out). Once you reach this point... it takes about 15 minutes to complete the job. The side plate is held on by five 6mm bolts and some Hondabond... remove, clean, tap out the old seal... and then re-install the new. Clean up the mating surfaces and apply new Hondabond. Torque all side plate bolts to 9 ft/lbs.

How much is the Rear Main Seal????

Jim, I might be picking up a Rear Main Seal before I come up there for the lsd, oil pan install!!! [img]biggrin.gif[/img]
